Beef and Broccoli Stir Fry Pioneer Woman

I have a friend.

Her name is Jaden. She'south a food writer, a food blogger, and a sweet, lovely person.

I love her more'due north my luggage.

Jaden has a cookbook! Information technology was released about the same time as mine. We are sisters in cookbook.

Never mind that our cookbooks are nil alike.

Our cooking isn't all that similar, either…except for one thing: we both like recipes that are simple. Everyday. Real.

Information technology'southward merely that Jaden's recipes are, like, Asian. Mine aren't.

Merely other than that, they're identical.

Except for the fact that Jaden actually knows what she's doing in the kitchen and I'm a complete nutjob.

Simply other than that, we're twins!

I beloved Jaden's cookbook, and the first dish I wanted to brand was Chinese Beef Broccoli. I knew my girls would like it.

Image (3) 4021136944_dd4474e2b0_o.jpg for post 8459

The recipe calls for either sirloin or flank steak. I tin never turn down a practiced flank steak, so that'south what I grabbed.

Image (4) 4021139308_a0e341ae5b_o.jpg for post 8459

BEE-YOOtiful.

Image (5) 4020379325_bc8062bd3a_o.jpg for post 8459

See that grain? That's flank steak, infant.

Image (6) 4020379623_acf7c28dcd_o.jpg for post 8459

Slice information technology very, very sparse. This'll ensure the bites are tender.

Image (7) 4020379955_c4c29d3d5d_o.jpg for post 8459

Strips of flank steak makes me happy.

Image (8) 4021142258_29dbc8586d_o.jpg for post 8459

Next, cutting some broccoli into bite-size florets.

Image (9) 4021143608_dbf85a3c23_o.jpg for post 8459

Finally (and finely), chop some garlic.

Image (10) 4021137262_d503dd7800_o.jpg for post 8459

For the meat marinade, take hold of some corn starch…

Image (11) 4020378437_c2aebd351f_o.jpg for post 8459

Throw it into a bowl with some soy sauce.

Image (12) 4020378735_246a51e8b3_o.jpg for post 8459

Add a petty cooking oil and stir information technology together…

Image (13) 4021140452_2a228d1eaa_o.jpg for post 8459

And cascade it over the meat, tossing to combine.

Here's something I noticed about this recipe, and it's another big deviation between Jaden's cooking and my own: Jaden is very frugal with her measurements. Where I would casually flop and throw and pour, she very carefully measures and uses not one drib more than she thinks the dish needs.

And that'due south a very dainty quality. Much better than my pouring and throwing and glugging and freaking out.

Now for the stir fry sauce. Take hold of some oyster sauce. Information technology's sold in the Asian aisle of my footling smalltown grocery store, which means you can get it anywhere.

Image (15) 4020381787_d54030ba77_o.jpg for post 8459

The recipe calls for Chinese Black Vinegar, which is most certainly NOT found at my smalltown grocery shop. And so I merely used balsamic. Jaden said information technology was okay!

Image (16) 4021141450_a6049c2736_o.jpg for post 8459

Combine those ii ingredients in a basin with some rice wine.

Image (17) 4020382539_a90183d7bc_o.jpg for post 8459

Okay! First thing we're gonna do is steam the broccoli. In a wok or large sauté pan, add together 1 inch of water and bring information technology to a boil.

Image (18) 4020382907_b1165a3f62_o.jpg for post 8459

Throw in the broccoli…

Image (19) 4021143224_10eb2986e1_o.jpg for post 8459

And place the chapeau on the pan.

Image (20) 4021143924_e4d3ca593e_o.jpg for post 8459

Steam for three minutes…

Image (21) 4021144244_a0e9b79ed3_o.jpg for post 8459

Prepare the broccoli aside.

Image (22) 4020384499_a3e692335e_o.jpg for post 8459

Pour off the water and dry the pan, then oestrus it and pour in some loftier rut oil. I used peanut oil.

Image (23) 4020384833_548343d519_o.jpg for post 8459

Swirl the pan to coat with oil…

Image (24) 4021145198_d42c795610_o.jpg for post 8459

Then throw in the garlic…

Image (25) 4021136710_d9cf61f556_o.jpg for post 8459

Stir it around for about thirty seconds,

Image (26) 4021145570_ffb973b63f_o.jpg for post 8459

Then add the meat in a single layer.

Image (27) 4021145934_f8558948ab_o.jpg for post 8459

Let them cook for 30 seconds without disturbing them, and then flip 'em over to the other side.

Image (28) 4021146292_e259ca1a4e_o.jpg for post 8459

I did the meat in two batches. I didn't desire to crowd it in at that place.

Image (29) 4020386721_866f132653_o.jpg for post 8459

When the meat is all cooked, throw it into the skillet, and then pour in the stir fry sauce.

Image (30) 4021146940_8d8c5935ec_o.jpg for post 8459
Image (31) 4020387743_25c366b6b0_o.jpg for post 8459

Stir it effectually. Then faint.

Out-of-this-world delicious!

Image (32) 4020388099_c7e818f145_o.jpg for post 8459

Throw in the broccoli.

Image (33) 4020388453_4df049b76b_o.jpg for post 8459

Stir it together…oh, YUM!

Image (34) 4021149056_1e6233cab7_o.jpg for post 8459

It's so uncomplicated…only so flavorful!

Image (35) 4020389287_13657c7757_o.jpg for post 8459

Throw some rice in a bowl.

Long grain rice. Tender-firm, plain, and awesome.

Image (36) 4021149604_47f65cfff4_o.jpg for post 8459

And throw the beef broccoli mixture right on top.

Image (37) 4020390401_60d243175a_o.jpg for post 8459

I loved it then did my girls! So easy, then quick…soooo good.

Give thanks you, Jaden, for the beautiful recipe…and for your cute cookbook! I love it.
